ISO42001-certified-badgeWe’re pleased to announce that de.iterate has been certified to ISO 42001, the international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS).

This marks an important milestone in how we design, build and use AI across the de.iterate platform, and reinforces our commitment to ensuring that innovation is backed by strong governance, transparency and accountability.

A new standard for a rapidly evolving space

ISO 42001 is a new, voluntary standard, introduced in late December 2023, designed to help organisations establish, implement and maintain a structured approach to managing AI.

As of early 2026, the number of organisations in Australia certified to ISO 42001 remains very low. Adoption is still in its early stages, but the direction is clear: organisations will increasingly be expected to demonstrate that their use of AI is governed, risk-aware and aligned to formal management systems.

For us, achieving certification early is about getting ahead of that curve, and doing it properly.

Why this matters

AI is already changing how organisations approach compliance, assurance and decision-making.

From automating tasks to analysing evidence and identifying gaps, AI has the potential to significantly improve how organisations manage risk. But with that comes responsibility.

ISO 42001 provides a framework to ensure that AI systems are:

  • designed and used responsibly
  • aligned to organisational objectives
  • supported by clear governance structures
  • monitored and continuously improved over time

In short, it moves AI from something experimental to something operational.

How we approach AI at de.iterate

At de.iterate, our approach to AI is consistent with how we think about compliance more broadly: Make it practical. Make it structured. Make it work in the real world.

That means:

  • building AI into workflows where it adds real value
  • ensuring outputs are explainable and traceable
  • maintaining strong controls around how data is used
  • aligning AI capabilities with the broader management system

Whether it’s assisting with compliance tasks, analysing documentation or supporting continuous assurance, our focus is on using AI to reduce complexity, not create more of it.

A natural extension of our platform

de.iterate already helps organisations manage policies, risks, evidence, audits and reporting in one integrated system.

Achieving ISO 42001 certification is a natural extension of that approach.

It ensures that as AI becomes more embedded in the platform, through features like intelligent document analysis, automated gap identification and workflow recommendations, it is governed within a clear, defensible and auditable framework.

Looking ahead

AI governance is still evolving, but expectations are rising quickly. Organisations will need to show not just that they are using AI, but that they are using it responsibly, transparently and with appropriate oversight.

ISO 42001 provides a clear foundation for doing exactly that.

We’re proud to be among the early adopters in Australia, and to continue building a platform that helps organisations stay ahead of both compliance requirements and emerging technologies.
